City Fact: Hartford is situated just northeast of New Britain Connecticut between the cities of East Hartford and Glastonbury, on the banks of the Connecticut River.
City Fact: A group of pilgrims from Newtown, Massachusetts, settled on the site in 1635. In the spring of 1636, another group of Pilgrims headed by the Reverend Thomas Hooker also settled here.
City Fact: The colony then adopted the Hartford Constitution, which became known as the Fundamental Orders, in 1639. This document became the model for the Constitution of the United States 150 years later.
