City Fact: Boise is situated on the Boise River in the southwestern part of the state.
City Fact: Boise's wood-lined river was a welcome sight for French-Canadian trappers after working there across the territory's treeless plain. The French Trappers named the area Boise, meaning, "wooded". It was later named the "City of Trees" founded in 1863.
