City Fact: Frederick is located just between the city of Washington, D.C. and the city Hagerstown. Frederick is proud to say that it is home to a well know and respected school called Hood College and to the famous Fort Detrick Cancer Research Center.
City Fact: There are several famous historical sites located in Frederick one of them is the Monocacy National Battlefield. The Monocacy National Battlefield is the site of a famous battle that took place on July 9, 1864 and is called by historians 'The Battle that saved Washington'.
City Fact: Frederick tells the story that the Confederate General Jubal T. had defeated Union forces commanded by General Lew Wallace when Wallace had made the fateful decision to delay moving his troops early in the battle and this enabled Union forces to set up a successful defense of Washington, D.C.
