City Fact: Grand Rapids is located in the southwestern region of Michigan. Grand Rapids was first set up and settled by a French Traxcer named Lousi Campau. He set up a trading post in this area during the year 1826 with the land he purchased from the federal government for a total of $90.
City Fact: Today the land he purchased is the Grand Rapids downtown district. The city became a place know for manufacturing furniture.
City Fact: Grand Rapids used the river close by to generate power for its factory and also to help move the logs from up river. Grand Rapids is now known the world over for its furniture production.
