State Fact: The 30% of the state to the west is covered by the Rocky Mountains and promotes skiing as well as other outdoor activities. Montana is a very large state and in fact is the 4th largest state in the union. The vast majority of the population is located in the western region on the state. State Fact: Montana is well known for its natural beauty and wonders such as Glacier Nations Park, The Great Bear wilderness Area, and The Bob Marshall Wilderness. There are also several state and national parks which include Lolo National Forest, the Kootenai National Forest, the Bitterroot National Forest and the Flathead Hationa Forest.;
State Fact: The actual state name Montana came from a Spanish word, montana, which is a descriptive word for the Rocky Mountains. Fully 60% of the eastern part of the state is part of the Great Plains region. This are is home to the agricultural and farming industries as well as the strong cattle industry.
