State Fact: Nevada is the seventh largest state in the union, which translates to 18 square miles of space per person when the population is taken into account. That's plenty of room for the residents and a lot of open space for Nevada visitors.;
State Fact: Although Nevada is known most for its entertainment and gambling there are many other natural and interesting wonders to enjoy. There is Lake Tahoe, Truckee River, Lunar Crater and Gypsum Cave. The many parks include Wild Horse State Recreation Area, Washoe Lake State Park, Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park, Valley of fire State Park and the Great Basin National Park, which is the state's only National Park and one that every tourist should see. Of course the Hoover Dam is also a must see and is not far from Las Vegas. The Dam is truly a man made wonder and is full of interesting history and trivia.;
State Fact: It is one of several states carved out of the Utah Territory, which was itself formed as a result of the Missouri Compromise of 1850. The Territory of Nevada was created in 1861, three years before it became the State of Nevada, in 1864. Nevada began as a white mans area with the first two settlements during the year 1851.
